Ultimate Frosting

“Ultimate Frosting” — now that sounds like the dreamiest, richest frosting you can imagine! It usually means a smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced frosting that’s easy to spread or pipe, with just the right sweetness and texture.

Here’s a classic recipe for an Ultimate Buttercream Frosting that works beautifully on cakes, cupcakes, cookies — basically anything that needs a perfect sweet finishing touch!


🎂 Ultimate Buttercream Frosting Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • Pinch of salt (to balance sweetness)

Instructions:

  1. Beat the Butter:
    In a large bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until creamy and pale (about 2-3 minutes).
  2. Add Sugar Gradually:
    Slowly add powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, beating on low speed until incorporated. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. Add Vanilla and Salt:
    Mix in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  4. Adjust Consistency:
    Add heavy cream or milk one tablespoon at a time, beating on high until light, fluffy, and spreadable. Usually 2-4 tablespoons are enough.
  5. Final Whip:
    Beat on high speed for another 3-5 minutes to get a light, airy texture.

Tips for the Ultimate Frosting:

  • Softened butter (not melted!) is key for smooth texture.
  • Sift your powdered sugar to avoid lumps.
  • For extra flavor, swap vanilla with almond, lemon, or other extracts.
  • If you want stiffer frosting for piping, use less cream; for softer spreading, add a bit more.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge and re-whip before use.
