Posted on March 7, 2025

Steak in Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce is an incredibly flavorful and indulgent dish that pairs perfectly with a perfectly cooked steak and a rich, creamy shrimp sauce infused with bold Cajun spices. Here’s a recipe for this delicious meal!

Steak in Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce

Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye steaks (or your preferred cut, such as sirloin or filet mignon)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

For the Cajun Shrimp Sauce:

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper (red or green)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Steaks:

  • Season the steaks with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Rub the seasoning into the steaks and let them sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.

2. Cook the Steaks:

  • Heat a skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the steaks to the pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side (for medium-rare, adjust the time depending on your desired level of doneness).
  • After cooking, remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5-10 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute and keeps the steaks juicy.

3. Prepare the Cajun Shrimp Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, add the 1 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp butter.
  • Add the diced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.

4. Cook the Shrimp:

  • Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp and set aside.

5. Make the Creamy Cajun Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, add the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Let it reduce by half for about 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, thyme, oregano, and cayenne pepper (if using). Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.

6. Combine the Shrimp and Sauce:

  • Return the shrimp to the skillet, coating them in the creamy Cajun sauce. Let them heat through for another 1-2 minutes.

7. Serve:

  • Place the rested steaks on plates. Spoon the creamy Cajun shrimp sauce over the top, and garnish with fresh parsley.
  • Serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.

Tips:

  • Steak Cooking: For the perfect steak, use a meat thermometer. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C) internal temperature, and for medium, aim for 140°F (60°C).
  • Shrimp Flavor: If you like extra spice, feel free to add more Cajun seasoning or a dash of hot sauce to the shrimp sauce.
  • Optional: Serve with a side of garlic bread to scoop up all that delicious creamy sauce.

Enjoy your Steak in Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce – it’s a flavorful and indulgent dish that’s perfect for special occasions or just when you’re craving something rich and satisfying! Let me know if you’d like any more tips or variations!
