SHRIMP BOIL FOIL PACKS

Posted on March 31, 2025

Shrimp Boil Foil Packs are a fun, easy, and flavorful way to enjoy a classic shrimp boil without the mess. Everything is cooked in a foil packet, making clean-up a breeze. Here’s a simple recipe for you to try!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (leave tails on for extra flavor)
  • 2 ears corn, cut into thirds
  • 1 lb baby potatoes, halved or quartered
  • 1/2 lb smoked sausage, cut into 1-inch pieces (optional)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood seasoning)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the grill or oven:
    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, or your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the foil packs:
    • Cut 4 large pieces of heavy-duty aluminum foil (about 12 inches long each).
    • In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, corn, potatoes, sausage, melted butter, minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, thyme, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice. Toss everything together until evenly coated.
  3. Assemble the foil packs:
    • Divide the mixture evenly among the four pieces of foil. Place the ingredients in the center of each foil piece.
    • Fold the sides of the foil up, then fold the top and bottom edges over to seal the packets tightly, ensuring the ingredients are contained but not squished.
  4. Cook the foil packs:
    • Grill method: Place the foil packets directly on the grill. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink, potatoes are tender, and corn is cooked through.
    • Oven method: Place the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through and the potatoes are tender.
  5. Serve:
    • Carefully open the foil packs (watch out for steam!). Garnish with fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon if desired.
    • Serve the shrimp boil foil packs hot, with extra lemon wedges on the side.

Tips:

  • You can substitute the sausage with crab, lobster, or even chicken if you prefer.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or onions for more flavor.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a drizzle of hot sauce or cocktail sauce when serving.

These foil packs are perfect for an easy, no-mess dinner, and they taste like a classic shrimp boil with all the great flavors you love! Enjoy!
