Here’s a fantastic recipe for a Perfect Steak Salad—fresh, flavorful, and packed with protein. Great for a light but satisfying meal!

Perfect Steak Salad: Fresh, Flavorful, and Protein-Packed

Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Salad:

  • Mixed greens (arugula, spinach, romaine, or spring mix) — about 4 cups
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 small cucumber, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta or blue cheese (optional)
  • 1/4 cup toasted nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)

For the Dressing:

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (or red wine vinegar)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Marinate and cook the steak:
    • In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Rub this mixture all over the steak.
    • Let it sit for 15–30 minutes at room temperature (or up to overnight in the fridge).
    • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Cook the steak about 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust timing for your preferred doneness).
    • Let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  2. Prepare the salad:
    • In a large bowl, toss the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion.
  3. Make the dressing:
    • Whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, and pepper.
  4. Assemble:
    • Drizzle dressing over the salad and toss gently.
    • Top with sliced steak, crumbled cheese, toasted nuts, and avocado slices.

Tips:

  • You can swap the steak for grilled chicken or shrimp for a variation.
  • Add fresh herbs like basil or parsley for extra brightness.
  • If you like a little heat, sprinkle some red pepper flakes or add sliced jalapeños.
