Here’s a delicious recipe for Homemade Savory Pizza Rolls — think of them as soft, cheesy, pull-apart pinwheels packed with your favorite pizza flavors.


🍕 Homemade Savory Pizza Rolls

Ingredients:

For the Dough (or use store-bought pizza dough):

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
  • 1 to 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup pepperoni, chopped (or your preferred toppings: sausage, mushrooms, olives, etc.)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

For the Topping:

  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan
  • Chopped parsley (optional)

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Make the Dough (Skip if using store-bought):

  • In a bowl, mix yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead for 5–7 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
  • Cover and let it rise for 45–60 minutes, or until doubled in size.

2. Assemble the Rolls:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out dough into a rectangle (about 10×14 inches) on a lightly floured surface.
  • Spread pizza sauce evenly, leaving a ½-inch border.
  • Sprinkle cheese, pepperoni, and seasonings over the sauce.
  • Roll tightly from the long edge into a log, then slice into 1 to 1½ inch thick pieces.

3. Bake:

  • Place rolls in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet, slightly spaced apart.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter, garlic powder, and a sprinkle of Parmesan.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

4. Garnish & Serve:

  • Sprinkle with parsley and serve with extra pizza sauce or ranch on the side.

🍽️ Tips & Variations:

  • Use crescent dough or puff pastry for a shortcut.
  • Try fillings like cooked sausage, sautéed spinach, or roasted veggies.
  • Add a thin layer of cream cheese for extra richness.
