Posted on June 30, 2025

Here’s a recipe for Healthy Greek Yogurt Chocolate Chip Cookies soft, chewy, with gooey melty centerslower in fat and sugar, higher in protein, and still delicious.

🍪 Healthy Greek Yogurt Chocolate Chip Cookies (Melty Centers)

🥄 Makes: ~14–16 medium cookies

⏱ Total Time: 25–30 minutes (10 min prep, 10–12 min bake, plus cooling)

📝 Ingredients

Dry:

  • 1¼ cups (150g) white whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • Optional: ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for warmth)

Wet:

  • ¼ cup (60g) Greek yogurt (plain, 2% or full-fat preferred for better texture)

  • ¼ cup (60g) coconut oil or unsalted butter (melted and cooled)

  • ⅓ cup (70g) coconut sugar or light brown sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 egg (room temperature)

Add-ins:

  • ½ cup (90g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

  • Optional: a few chocolate chunks or pieces for melty centers (e.g., insert squares of dark chocolate or hazelnut spread)

🔪 Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Oven and Baking Sheet

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Step 2: Mix the Dough

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon (if using).

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, melted coconut oil or butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.

  3. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined. Don’t overmix.

  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  5. For extra gooey centers: form dough balls around a chunk of dark chocolate or a frozen dollop of Nutella or almond butter.

Step 3: Shape the Cookies

  • Use a medium cookie scoop or 1½ tbsp of dough per cookie.

  • Roll gently into balls and place 2 inches apart on prepared sheet.

  • Flatten slightly with your palm or the back of a spoon—these don’t spread much on their own.

  • Press a few extra chocolate chips on top for looks.

Step 4: Bake

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are set and tops are just starting to turn golden.

  • The centers may look slightly underbaked — that’s perfect for melty middles.

  • Cool on the pan for 5–10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

🍫 Optional Filling Tips:

For melty centers:

  • Freeze dollops of Nutella, peanut butter, or chocolate ganache ahead of time.

  • Wrap dough around a frozen piece and seal completely before baking.

💡 Tips:

  • You can substitute honey or maple syrup for sugar, but reduce yogurt slightly to balance moisture.
