Delicious recipe for a homemade Apple Cinnamon Pastry—crisp, golden puff pastry filled with warm spiced apples. Perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy afternoon snack.

🍎 Apple Cinnamon Pastry

🍏 What You’ll Get:

Flaky puff pastry enveloping tender, cinnamon-sugar apples—finished with a shiny glaze or dusting of powdered sugar.

🧺 Ingredients (Makes ~6 pastries)

For the Filling:

  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are great)

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2–3 tbsp brown sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

  • 1 tsp lemon juice (to brighten)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, helps thicken the filling)

  • Pinch of salt

For the Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought, thawed) or homemade puff pastry

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • 1 tbsp milk (to mix with the egg wash)

Optional Glaze (for finishing):

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tsp milk

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

🔪 Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apple Filling

  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small cubes (about ½ inch).

  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and salt.

  3. Cook for 5–8 minutes, stirring frequently, until apples soften slightly.

  4. If mixture is watery, stir in the cornstarch and cook another 1–2 minutes until thickened.

  5. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Step 2: Assemble the Pastries

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry (if not pre-rolled). Cut into 6 equal rectangles or squares.

  3. Place a spoonful of the cooled apple filling on one half of each piece, leaving a border around the edge.

  4. Fold over to form a triangle or rectangle. Press edges gently with a fork to seal.

  5. Cut a small slit or score lines on the top to allow steam to escape.

  6. In a small bowl, mix the egg and milk to make the egg wash. Brush it over each pastry.

Step 3: Bake

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

  2. Let cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes.

Step 4: Add Glaze (Optional but Amazing)

  1. Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.

  2. Drizzle over cooled pastries or dust with powdered sugar instead.

🍴 Serve Warm or Room Temp

Pairs beautifully with:

  • A hot cup of coffee or chai

  • A scoop of vanilla ice cream

  • A drizzle of caramel sauce

💡 Tips & Variations

  • Add chopped walnuts or pecans for crunch.

  • Use pie spice blend instead of just cinnamon.

  • Want mini versions? Cut puff pastry into 12 smaller squares and reduce baking time to 12–15 minutes.
