Churros & French Toast

Churro French Toast recipe it’s the best of both worlds! You get the soft, custardy inside of classic French toast with the crispy cinnamon-sugar coating of churros. Perfect for a weekend brunch or a special treat!

πŸ₯– Ingredients

For the French Toast:

  • 6 thick slices of brioche or challah bread (or Texas toast)

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 cup whole milk (or half & half for extra richness)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • Butter or oil for the pan

For the Churro Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • 2–3 tbsp melted butter

  1. Make the Custard:

    • In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.

  2. Prepare the Churro Sugar:

    • In a separate shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon for coating.

  3. Dip & Cook:

    • Dip each slice of bread in the custard mixture (both sides) and let soak for a few seconds.

    • Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat.

    • Cook each slice for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  4. Churro Coating:

    • While the toast is still warm, brush both sides lightly with melted butter, then immediately dredge in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve warm with optional toppings like:

      • Maple syrup

      • Whipped cream

      • Fresh berries

      • Dulce de leche or chocolate sauce

  • Churro French Toast Sticks: Slice the bread into sticks before dipping and frying – great for kids or dipping!

  • Stuffed Version: Add a layer of cream cheese, Nutella, or strawberry jam between two slices before dipping.

  • Make it in the oven: Bake dipped slices on a parchment-lined tray at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway.
