Are You Kidding Me Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients on the box, typically eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cream Cheese Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup (or hot fudge)
  • 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers (optional, for a s’mores-inspired twist)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cake:
    • Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box.
    • Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
    • Prepare the cake batter according to the box instructions, then fold in the chocolate chips.
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake according to the time suggested on the box, usually around 25-30 minutes.
    • Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool completely.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Layer:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
    • Gradually add powdered sugar and continue to beat until fully incorporated.
    • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
    • Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until smooth.
  3. Assemble the Cake:
    • Once the cake is cooled, spread the cream cheese layer evenly over the top of the cake.
    • Sprinkle the mini marshmallows evenly on top of the cream cheese layer.
  4. Add the Toppings:
    • Drizzle chocolate syrup or hot fudge over the top of the marshmallows.
    • If you like, sprinkle the crushed graham crackers on top for an extra s’mores-like touch.
  5. Chill and Serve:
    • Refrigerate the cake for at least 1-2 hours before serving to allow the layers to set.
    • When ready to serve, slice and enjoy the decadent, rich layers!

This cake is absolutely indulgent with layers of chocolate, cream cheese, and marshmallows—totally deserving of its bold name. Let me know how it turns out or if you’d like any adjustments!
