Crispy Cottage Cheese Treats

Posted on May 31, 2025

Here’s a tasty recipe for Crispy Cottage Cheese Treats—perfect as a snack or appetizer! These are golden on the outside, soft on the inside, and easy to make.

🧀 Crispy Cottage Cheese Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cottage cheese (drained if watery)

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plus more for coating)

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour or chickpea flour

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1–2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional for spice)

  • 1 tbsp fresh herbs (like parsley or cilantro), chopped

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp chili flakes or paprika

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil for shallow frying

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Cottage Cheese:

    • If your cottage cheese is very wet, drain excess liquid using a fine mesh strainer or squeeze gently in a clean kitchen towel.

    • Mash slightly with a fork if the curds are large.

  2. Make the Mixture:

    • In a bowl, combine the cottage cheese, breadcrumbs, flour, onion, chilies, herbs, pepper, chili flakes, and salt.

    • Mix well until it forms a slightly sticky dough. Add more breadcrumbs if the mixture is too wet.

  3. Shape the Treats:

    • Shape into small patties, nuggets, or sticks.

    • Coat lightly in breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.

  4. Cook:

    • Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.

    • Shallow-fry the treats until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 2–3 minutes per side.

    • Drain on paper towels.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve hot with ketchup, chutney, or a spicy mayo dip.

🔄 Variations:

  • Add grated carrots or spinach for extra nutrition.

  • Use crushed cornflakes instead of breadcrumbs for an extra-crunchy crust.

  • Air-fry or bake for a healthier version (brush with oil and bake at 400°F/200°C for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway).
