Here’s a  Cracker Barrel Hash Brown Casserole creamy, cheesy, comforting, and incredibly easy to make. Perfect as a side dish for breakfast, brunch, or even dinner.

Cracker Barrel Hash Brown Casserole

🍽️ Servings: 8–10

⏱️ Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 45–50 minutes

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • Optional: 1/4 tsp garlic powder or onion powder for extra flavor

  • Optional topping: Additional 1/2 cup cheese or 1 cup crushed cornflakes mixed with 2 tbsp melted butter

🥣 Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:

    • In a large mixing bowl, stir together the melted butter, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream until well combined.

  3. Add Flavor and Cheese:

    • Stir in the chopped onion, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings.

  4. Add Hash Browns:

    • Gently fold in the thawed hash browns until fully coated in the mixture.

  5. Transfer to Baking Dish:

    • Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.

  6. Add Optional Topping:

    • For a cheesy top: sprinkle additional cheddar on top.

    • For a crunchy topping: mix 1 cup crushed cornflakes with 2 tbsp melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.

  7. Bake:

    • Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbling around the edges.

🌟 Tips & Variations

  • Fresh potatoes: You can use 4–5 cups freshly shredded potatoes (drained well) instead of frozen.

  • Make it vegetarian: Use cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup.

  • Add protein: Mix in cooked bacon bits, ham, or cooked sausage before baking.

  • Spicy kick: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños.
