Here’s a super easy recipe for Drop Biscuits — no rolling or cutting required! Just mix, drop, and bake. Perfect for a quick side with soups, stews, or breakfast.
🧈 Easy Drop Biscuits (Makes ~8 biscuits)
✅ Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup (1 stick / 113g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- ¾ cup (180ml) milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)
Optional: 1 tsp sugar for slightly sweet biscuits
Optional add-ins: shredded cheese, herbs, garlic powder, etc.
🔧 Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment or lightly grease it.
- Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt (plus sugar if using). - Cut in butter:
Add the cold butter cubes. Use a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingers to work it in until mixture looks like coarse crumbs (some pea-sized bits are good!). - Add milk:
Pour in the milk and stir just until combined. The dough will be sticky — don’t overmix. - Drop biscuits:
Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the baking sheet — no need to shape them. - Bake:
Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden on top. - (Optional) Brush with butter:
For extra flavor, brush the tops with melted butter right out of the oven.
🧀 Flavor Variations:
- Cheddar + Chive: Add ½ cup grated cheddar + 1 tbsp chopped chives
- Garlic Herb: Add ½ tsp garlic powder + 1 tsp mixed herbs
- Sweet: Add 1 tbsp sugar + a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on top before baking
