Chicken and green bean casserole

Here’s a classic and comforting Chicken and Green Bean Casserole recipe — creamy, savory, and perfect for a cozy dinner or potluck.


🥘 Chicken and Green Bean Casserole

✅ Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced (rotisserie works great)
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen green beans, trimmed and halved
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional for extra creaminess)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or more, to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions (French’s or store-brand)

🔪 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Blanch green beans: Boil them in salted water for 3-4 minutes (if fresh), then drain and set aside. If using frozen, just thaw and drain.
  3. In a large bowl, mix:
    • Cream of mushroom soup
    • Milk
    • Sour cream (if using)
    • Garlic powder, onion powder, salt & pepper
    • Shredded cheddar cheese
  4. Stir in chicken and green beans.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Top with half of the fried onions.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
  8. Top with remaining fried onions and bake 5 more minutes until golden.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or warm dinner rolls.
  • Add a side salad for a fresher touch.

🔄 Variations:

  • Use turkey instead of chicken (great for leftovers).
  • Swap cream of mushroom with cream of chicken or cream of celery.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or onions for more texture and flavor.
  • Spice it up with a dash of cayenne or paprika.
