Here’s a simple and tasty Egg Roll in a Bowl recipe:


Egg Roll in a Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground pork (or ground chicken/turkey)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced (or 1 tsp ground ginger)
  • 1/2 head of green cabbage, shredded (about 5 cups)
  • 2 large carrots, shredded or julienned
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or any cooking oil)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes or sriracha for heat
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Add diced onion, garlic, and ginger to the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onion softens.
  4. Stir in the shredded cabbage and carrots. Cook, stirring frequently, until the cabbage softens but still has a bit of crunch (about 5-7 minutes).
  5. Pour in soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir well to combine.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes or sriracha for heat.
  7. Remove from heat, sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds on top.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
