Here’s a cozy and irresistible recipe for Honey-Glazed Sweet Potato Donuts — soft, spiced, and finished with a warm honey glaze. Perfect for fall flavors or anytime you want comfort in donut form.

🍩 Honey-Glazed Sweet Potato Donuts

📝 Donut Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato (cooked and cooled)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger (optional)
  • ½ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

🍯 Honey Glaze Ingredients:

  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: ½ tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Make the Donut Dough:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) or preheat oil to 350°F if frying.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  • In another bowl, mix mashed sweet potato, brown sugar, eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add wet ingredients to dry and stir just until combined — do not overmix.

2. Shape & Cook:

  • For baked donuts: Spoon batter into a greased donut pan. Fill each cavity about ¾ full and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and springy.
  • For fried donuts: Roll dough on a floured surface to about ½ inch thick. Cut into donut shapes. Fry in hot oil 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.

3. Make the Honey Glaze:

  • In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter and stir in honey and milk.
  • Bring just to a simmer, remove from heat, add vanilla (if using), and a pinch of salt.
  • Let cool slightly to thicken, then dip the warm donuts into the glaze or drizzle over the top.

🍽 Tips & Variations:

  • Add a pinch of cardamom or allspice for deeper spice flavor.
  • Sprinkle glazed donuts with crushed pecans for crunch.
  • You can use canned sweet potato purée, but make sure it’s unsweetened.
