Crazy Dough Recipe

Crazy Dough is a super versatile, all-purpose yeast dough that can be used to make everything from bread and rolls to pizza, cinnamon buns, or even doughnuts. It’s called β€œcrazy” because it’s so flexible, easy to make, and stores well!


🍞 Crazy Dough Recipe (All-Purpose Yeast Dough)

πŸ§‚ Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (about 100–110Β°F / 38–43Β°C)
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast or instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2ΒΎ to 3 cups all-purpose flour

1. Activate the Yeast (if using active dry):

  • In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
  • Let sit for 5–10 minutes, until foamy.
    (Skip this step if using instant yeast β€” just mix everything together.)

2. Make the Dough:

  • Add salt, oil (or butter), and egg to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually stir in flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.

3. Knead:

  • Knead the dough by hand or with a mixer for 6–8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour (1 tbsp at a time).

4. Let It Rise:

  • Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled.

⏱️ Storage Tips:

  • Refrigerate: Wrap tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze: Wrap in plastic, then foil, and freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw in the fridge overnight before using.
